With so many changes made to the FBT rules to limit the use of popular packaging strategies, it might seem like there is no point using salary sacrifice arrangements any more.
However, there are still opportunities that employees can use to maximise their after-tax income and for employers to provide additional benefits to staff at no extra cost to the business. But, it is important to ensure that any salary packaging strategies are implemented carefully to prevent unintended FBT and other consequences.

Michael has a knack for seeing through the complexity and helping practitioners work through highly technical issues with certainty and accuracy.
Michael is a member of the advisory panel for the Board of Taxation and was a member of the reference group for the Board’s review of small business concessions.
He was also an expert panel member for the Board’s review of tax impediments facing small business.
