The latest ATO guidance on activities involving software

Common practical issues and problem areas

A Live Instructor Led Webinar

The way we all deal with software has changed significantly over the years and the ATO is catching up, issuing updated guidance on how the tax system applies to software distributors, developers, and customers.

The Tax Treatment of Software Webinar is an essential update on the key issues that need to be considered by clients who are developing apps, distributing software, acquiring software, or paying licence fees to access software. We also look at some of the complex issues that arise when clients have cross border dealings in connection with software.

We work through the most common tax issues that clients face when dealing with software and services relating to software. We also look at how to determine whether software should be dealt with under the trading stock rules or depreciation rules, including whether clients can access up-front deductions for costs relating to the development or acquisition of software under the temporary full expensing rules.
