From 1 July 2021, the current $1.6m general transfer balance cap (TBC) will increase to $1.7m. Once the TBC is indexed, no single TBC will apply to all individuals, each individual will have a personal TBC that will be between $1.6m - $1.7m. This will require all SMSF professionals to understand how the personal TBC is calculated to avoid excess TBC problems for your clients.
The increase to the TBC will also add another layer of complexity to the preparation and management of SMSFs. Incorrectly applying the TBC for a client can have a permanent impact on the member’ transfer balance account!
The Transfer Balance Cap Indexation Webinar will cover practical examples to help you apply the changes to your client base and ensure your client does not inadvertently trigger and excess transfer balance determination. We also cover the opportunities and strategies these changes can provide for other superannuation cap changes.
