In around 30 mins per session (ish), we tackle the common problem areas, demonstrate exactly how to approach the issue and get a resolution.

Our presenters
Michael Carruthers

Michael is an adviser, author, in demand presenter, mentor to Knowledge Shop’s technical team, and is well known for his capacity to translate highly technical information into tangible and useable advice for the profession. He has a knack for seeing through the complexity and helping advisers work through highly technical issues with certainty and accuracy.
Michael works with advisers every day to help them negotiate and implement the constant tide of change impacting the industry.
He was a member of the advisory panel for the Board of Taxation, a member of the reference group for the Board’s review of small business concessions, and an expert panel member for the Board’s review of tax impediments facing small business.
Deb Ghuliani

Deb joined the tax training industry after 13 years in Corporate tax at a Big 4 CA practice. Her high level of tax consulting experience and lively personality combine to ensure that clients receive an informative yet entertaining training session.
Deb has practical experience in dealing with tax issues affecting many industries, particularly manufacturing, telecommunications and resources. Deb also has significant experience in relation to international tax matters resulting from her 4 year secondment to the M&A division of the London office of the Big 4 CA firm where she worked and a 1 year secondment to an Australian subsidiary of a global listed multinational group.
Michael Gilmour

Michael has over 25 years’ experience in tax, having worked at two Big 4 firms in Corporate Tax. He has also worked for a 2nd tier firm in tax consulting. Followed by 17 years as a tax trainer for an accounting body. More recently Michael has been a Tax Consulting principal at a 6-partner 60 employee firm and has worked at an ASX top-20 entity as a Senior Direct Tax Advisor.
He has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University and is a Chartered Accountant, a Certified Practising Accountant and a Chartered Tax Adviser.
Tiffany Douglas

Tiffany has over 25 years experience in the tax profession undertaking roles within accounting firms (including the Big 4), corporates (including multinationals) and tax education/advocacy. Over this time, she has managed client portfolios, in-house tax functions and has also worked as both a tax technical writer and workshop/seminar presenter.
Tiffany’s outside interests include travelling, reading and keeping fit.
Alexandra Barras

Alex has experience in big four corporate and international tax, consulting and the legal industry. During this time she specialised in providing practical tax advice to multinational groups, private businesses and high net worth family groups over a number of different industries.
During this time, Alex developed a passion for tax education, regularly conducting tax training and education programs for staff. She has strong analytical and technical ability, and thrives on communicating complex tax issues in an ‘easy to understand’ manner.
Alex is a fellow (FTI) member of the Tax Institute of Australia, and an Australia Lawyer admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria. She holds a Juris Doctor and a Master of Tax.
