We’ll step through the statutory framework that permits borrowing within an SMSF, the trustee obligations when establishing and operating an LRBA, trust structure and documentation considerations, and the practical steps to ensure the acquisition complies with the SIS Act and related regulations.

SMSFs and Primary Production Property
Wednesday, 18 November 2026
Many primary production families choose to hold their farmland in an SMSF. Holding assets in superannuation can provide asset protection and unmatched tax advantages, however with this comes an additional layer of compliance obligations which include the sole purpose test, acquisition rules, arm’s length requirements and the in-house asset rules.
This session will lift the lid on the compliance obligations and risks to consider when primary production property is held in an SMSF.

Administering Death Benefits in an SMSF
Wednesday, 28 October 2026
There are great opportunities for SMSF accountants and administrators to add value for their trustee clients during an emotional period in their life. This webinar will equip you with the tools to assist clients with their compliance obligations when a fund member dies.
Dealing with the death benefit requirements in superannuation law, the fund deed and any nominations can be complex. We will detail the steps required to ensure the compulsory death benefit requirements are met, the SMSF remains compliant and the deceased members benefit ends up in the right hands.

Practical Applications of How to Resolve Unexpected Unintentional Mishaps

Members from our SMSF Education Team will walk through unexpected, unintentional mishaps that have occurred in practice, explain how they arose, and set out the trustee actions and administrative steps taken in response. They will identify the contraventions or risks, and the practical steps administrators and accountants should take when these issues arise.

Dealing with SMSF Death Benefit Pensions
Wednesdays, 4 November 2026
This webinar provides SMSF accountants and administrators with a practical, compliance‑focused guide to cashing a deceased member’s benefit as a death benefit pension. We’ll step through the SIS Act and SIS Regulations obligations trustees must satisfy when a member dies, and explain how different pre‑death arrangements, i.e., accumulation and pension interests, affect the options available to trustees and beneficiaries. The session will also cover different types of death benefit pensions (including reversionary and non‑reversionary pensions).
